Brian Swimme

Brian’s primary field of research is the nature of the evolutionary dynamics of the Universe. He brings us a meaningful interpretation of the human as an emergent being within the Universe and Earth. His central concern is the role of the human within the Earth community.

Michael Dowd, a former pastor, and Connie Barlow, an author of popular science books, embody the marriage of religion and science as husband and wife. Together they tell the "great story" of the evolution of our universe and how we are nested within that sacred drama.

Powers of Ten

This site includes an animation where you can view the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth, then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach, finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.

Atlas of the Universe

This web page is designed to give an idea of what our universe actually looks like. There are nine main maps on this web page, each one approximately ten times the scale of the previous one. The first map shows the nearest stars and then the other maps slowly expand out until we have reached the scale of the entire visible universe.
